Herringbone iPod Sock Cosy
This elegant cosy fits a variety of MP3 players and mobile phones making it a great gift knit.
It is knitted bottom-up but could easily be converted to top-down using your favourite sock techniques and is ideal for practising colour-work in the round.

Cast on 40 stitches in main colour using Judy's Magic Cast On.
K1 round (as described in instructions for cast on).
* K1, Kfb, K16, Kfb, K1. Repeat from *. (44 stitches)
K1 round.
* K1, Kfb, K18, Kfb, K1. Repeat from *. (48 stitches)
Knit in stocking stitch in main colour until cosy measures 2".
Knit 13 rows in herringbone pattern as described below. (Rows 1-4 three times then row 1 once.)
Knit in stocking stitch in main colour until cosy measures 5".
*K2, P2. Repeat from * until cosy measures 6½".
Herringbone pattern
Row 1: * K2 MC, K1 CC. Repeat from * to end of round.
Row 2: * K1 CC, K3 MC, K1 CC, K1 MC. Repeat from * to end of round.
Row 3: K1 MC, * K1 CC, K1 MC, K1 CC, K3 MC. Repeat from * until 5 stitches before end of round. Last 5 stitches: K1 CC, K1MC , K1 CC, K2 MC.
